The actress passed away at the age of 94 on Sunday, just a week before her 95th birthday.

Eileen was the wife of late actor-director Leo Penn and the mother of two-time Oscar winner actor Saun Penn and composer-songwriter Michael Penn and actor Chris Penn, who died in 2006.
The tragic news of Ryan’s demise was confirmed by her son Michael Penn, who took to his social media and posted a heartfelt message on Monday.

After learning the news of the actress’ demise, Twitter was then flooded with condolences messages and tributes to the deceased actor.
Eileen, who was born in New York on Oct 16, 1927, had a 50 year long career as an actor, she made her broadway debut in 1953 with Sing Till Tomorrow.
Later, she went on to start her television career with Goodyear Television Playhouse. Throughout her career she had worked in many films, television shows, and theatre productions.
In 1960, she appeared in an episode of Twilight Zone and then in The Detectives, Ben Casey, Bonanza, Cannon, Little House on the Prairie, Marcus Welby, M.D., and Matlock.
Her film credits include quite big names such as At Close Range, The Crossing Guard, Winter People, Judgement in Berlin, Parenthood, Magnolia.
As well as The Pledge, Anywhere but Here, The Assassination of Richard Nixon, All the King’s Men Feast, A Shape of Error, I Am Sam and The Indian Runner.
She made her final screen appearance in 2016 in a romantic drama Rules Don’t Apply, where she was featured alongside Warren Beatty, Lily Collins, Annette Bening, Matthew Broderick, and Alden Ehrenreich.
In 1957, during a broadway rehearsal, Eileen met Leo for the rehearsals of The Iceman Cometh in New York. Within a week after their first meeting, the two decided to move in together.
A few months later the two got married. The couple stayed together until Leo’s death in September 1998. Her net worth stood at $1 million.
