Each team’s chances of winning the English Premier League in the 2023/2024 season

In this article, we analyze the chances of the twenty teams winning the 2023/2024 season of the English Premier League

The English Premier League

The English Premier League is one of the most-watched sports events in the world, amassing billions of fans since its launch in 1992. Established as the Football Association Premier League, the competition sees twenty teams play 38 games against each other, home and away. Since its establishment, 51 teams have participated in the competition, of which only seven have won the league.

Currently, Manchester City reigns as the champion, making it their seventh premier league title since inception. However, Manchester United holds the most number of wins at 13, followed by Chelsea with 5, then Arsenal with 3, and Blackburn Rovers, Liverpool, and Leicester City with one each. When it comes to football matches today, the English Premier League is shown in over 212 territories across almost 650 million homes. The passion shown for this league is why it remains the most followed football live score whenever the league is in session. Its runtime is typically from August to May.

In the 2022-2023 season, we saw an amazing display of dominance from Arsenal till they bottled in the final games. Manchester City, under the coaching of Pep Guardiola, emerged as champion again, becoming the first team to win the league four consecutive times. We saw the fall of strong contenders like Chelsea, Tottenham, and Liverpool, which makes us wonder what to expect for this season. Also, Leicester City, Southampton, and Leeds United have been relegated, and they’ll be replaced by the new  teams, Burnley, Sheffield United, and the recently promoted Luton Town,

As ever, this new season looks like it’d be one for the books, with new signings and departures from each EPL team. In the following headings, we analyze these teams based on their performances last season and the transfers we’ve observed so far.

Arsenal

Arsenal’s stint last season under the management of Mikel Arteta is one that can’t be forgotten so soon. For the first time since 2004, it seemed the Gunners were making a grand comeback to claim the EPL title. They amassed 50 points in their first 19 games, topping the table confidently to the surprise of millions of EPL fans. However, this took a drastic turn when they lost a couple of their last few games, giving the lead to Man City.

Regardless, they came second with a total point of 84, renewing the hope of their fans for the coming season. So far, the team is still under the management of Mikel Arteta who has made some peculiar signings. The team now has an addition of Declan Rice from West Ham, Kai Havertz from Chelsea, Cedric Soares from Fulham, Jurrien Timber from Ajax, and Nuno Tavares from Marseille. These are all talented players in the world of football, and might just be what’s needed to finally clutch that EPL title.

The team is definitely a favorite to win, with millions of fans hoping they put an end to Manchester City’s stint.

Aston Villa

In a pleasant surprise last season, Aston Villa finished 7th on the table with 61 points. Compared to other seasons, the immediate previous season was one of their best, topping the EPL big names, such as Tottenham, Chelsea, and Everton. Currently, the team isn’t favored to win the coming EPL league with the departure of the club legend, Ashley Young. However, there are new signings, including Pau Torres from Villareal, Youri Tielemans from Leicester City, Wesley Moraes from Levante, and Morgan Sanson.

Under the management of Unai Emery, the team has a good chance to land in the top seven spots again but will have to stand its ground against the bigger teams.

Bournemouth

Bournemouth is one of the smaller teams in the League, so not much is expected from them this season. They finished 15th on the table under the management of Andoni Iraola. However, the manager has been sacked and replaced with Gary O’Neil. With this new management, we might be in from a few surprises from the team this season, but we won’t keep our hopes up. So far, the new manager has signed new players, including Romain Faivre from Lyon, Justin Kluivert from AS Roma, Hamed Traore from Sassuolo, James Hill, and Emiliano Marcondes.

Brentford

Brentford took us by surprise last season, making wins against Man City, Tottenham, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United. They had a fairly good run which saw them finish 9th on the table with 59 points. They could just be the next underdog like Leicester City if they do better than the performances from last season.

The team is still managed by Thomas Frank, who has made some significant changes to the team. He recently signed Nathan Collins from Wolves, Mark Flekken and Kevin Schade from Freiburg, and Sergi Canos from Olympiacos. This could edge the team forward to land in the top seven, at least.

Brighton & Hove Albion

One could say last season was the glory period for underdog teams, as Brighton & Hove Albion finished 6th on the table with 62 points. The team remains under the management of Roberto De Zerbi and we can’t wait to see what he has in store for this season. So far, he has signed 11 players, including James Milner from Liverpool, Mahmoud Dahoud from Dortmund, and Joao Pedro from Watford.

There’s no telling what these changes can bring to the team, and if it’ll increase their chances of entering the top 5, or even taking the championship title.

Burnley

Burnley was absent last season in the Premier League following relegation, and we’re not expecting much from them this season. In 2022, they hired the former Manchester City captain, Vincent Kompany, who we hope to see inspire some action in the Burnley team.

Chelsea

After Thomas Tuchel was sacked last season, everything went downhill for Chelsea under Graham Potter’s management. The team finished 12th on the table with just 44 points. This team’s fall was largely attributed to poor management under Graham Potter, who has since been sacked and replaced by Mauricio Pochettino. Hopefully, the star team regains its prowess and climbs up the table this season or displaces Manchester City from its champion seat.

So far, we’ve seen some notable departures, including Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, Reuben Loftus-Cheek, Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante, Caesar Azpilicueta, Mason Mount, and Edouard Mendy. However, with new signings such as Romelo Lukaku, Callum Hudon-Odoi, and Nicolas Jackson, we hope Mauricio Pochettino can turn the tides in favor of the team.

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace finished just above Chelsea in 11th position with 45 points. The team was and is still managed by Roy Hodgson. There’s not much to expect from the team, but we could be hopeful for some action against smaller teams. So far, they have only two new signings, including Jeferson Lerma and Jake O’Brien. In departures, we’ve seen the leave of James McArthur, Luka Milivojevic, and Jack Butland.

Everton

This team was just 2 points shy of relegation last season with 36 points to their name. They finished 17th on the table, which is an abysmal performance, compared to several other seasons. Regardless, we expect to see the team put up some fighting spirit this season under the management of Sean Dyche. New signings so far include Ashey Young, Joao Virginia, Andre Gomes, Jerrad Branthwaite, Dele Alli, and Jean-Philippe Gbamin.

Fulham

Fulham finished under Brentford last season in 10th position with 52 points. The team is not known for spectacular performances over the years, so we’re not expecting much from them. They remain under the management of Marco Silver, who recently signed Terence Kongolo, Ivan Calaveiro, and Kevin Mbabu to the team.

Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp dropped the ball last season with his team, finishing beneath Newcastle in fifth position with 67 points. Compared to other seasons, it was not their best league run, even with star players like Salah, Gakpo, and Jota. Fortunately, the team has nothing to focus on more than the EPL, and we expect a massive comeback from the team. If there’s any team that will give Manchester City a run for its money besides Arsenal, it’s Liverpool.

If they do make a comeback, we see them taking the title from Manchester City or landing in second position. While we’ve seen some heavy departures, such as Roberto Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Fabio Carvalho, the team has also signed on Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister.

Luton Town

They’d be the first team ever to be promoted from a non-league to the Premier League. We expect that the first few games will be overwhelming for the team, but hopefully, they get a grasp and perform accordingly against other teams. They’re under the management of Rob Edwards and the captaincy of Tom Lockyer.

Manchester City

Pep Guardiola was unstoppable with Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne last season. His tactical masterclass and sheer brilliance of players put him on top of the table to win the league with 89 points. It’s possible this season will earn the team’s fifth EPL title in a row, but we also expect some serious competition with teams like Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United. They’re the favorite to win, especially with a talent like Haaland, and we won’t put it past them to do so in grand style.

So far, Pep has signed Mateo Kovacic, Joao Cancelo, Issa Kabore, and Yan Couto. We’ve also seen the departures of Yangel Herrera, Benjamin Mendy, and Ilkay Gundogan. We can only wait to see what Pep and his team have in store for us.

Manchester United

The Red Devils finished third last season with 75 points, showing massive improvement compared to other seasons. Under the management of Ten Haag, we’ve seen an outburst of skill and brilliance from Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Martial, and Lindelof. Millions of fans worldwide hope the team will be back to its winning ways, and they have a pretty good shot at it this coming season.

New signings to the team include Mason Mount from Chelsea, Alex Telles from Sevilla, and Eric Bailly from Marseille. Under the continued captaincy of Bruno Fernandes, we can only watch for what Manchester United will bring to the table.

Newcastle United

The “money team” showed its resilience against big teams last season, earning it the 4th spot on the premier league table with 71 points. With the tactical masterclass and sheer brilliance observed under the management of Eddie Howe, we’re pretty confident the team has a chance in the top 6 again this season. So far, the team has signed Sandro Tonali from AC Milan, Yankuba Minteh from Odense BK, Isaac Hayden from Norwich, and Jeff Hendrick from Reading. We don’t know what’s coming with the team, but we’re excited to watch.

Nottingham Forest

Close to relegation last season, there’s nothing much to expect from Nottingham Forest. We hope they put on a fighting spirit and don’t hit relegation this season. They’re still under Steve Cooper’s management, whose new signings include Chris Wood, Lewis O’Brien, Mohammed Drager, Ui-Jo, Hwang, and Braian Ojeda.

Sheffield United

Absent from the league for two years, they’re now under the management of Paul Heckingbottom. Hopefully, we see them in good form as they take on big teams, but we won’t keep our hopes up.

Tottenham Hotspur

Following a rather disappointing season under Ryan Mason, the club has now hired Ange Postecoglou in hopes that they go back to winning ways. The club finished 8th last season with just 60 points. We count on a comeback this season, especially with the many new signings so far. Some of the key new signings include James Maddison, Sergio Reguilon, Pedro Porro, and Dejan Kulusevski.

West Ham United

West Ham was another of the teams with a bad performance last season. The team finished under Wolves at 14th position with just 40 points, We’ve seen West Ham United perform better in previous seasons, and hopefully, they step up their game this season. They remain under the management of David Moyes, who has now signed Nikola Vlasic and Nathan Trott to the team.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolves finished in 13th position with just 41 points last season. They’ve been one of the good contenders in the premier league for years without ever having a shot at the title. We do not expect much to change about the team’s performance this season, but we’re hopeful for good action under the management of Julen Lopetegui. He recently signed Tom King and Boubacar Traore, while losing more players to other teams.
