Van den Bergh won his first World Series championship in the Nordic Darts Masters at Forum Copenhagen two weeks prior, and he doubled his total with a commanding performance at the Ziggo Dome. The Belgian defeated Jermaine Wattimena 6-1 in the quarterfinals after dropping just two legs in his victory over Ron Meulenkamp in the first round on Friday.
He then defeated UK Open winner Danny Noppert 7-2 in the semifinals before moving up 4-0 of Van Duijvenbode in the championship match to reach fingertips away from triumph. In leg five, the Dutchman struck back, but Van den Bergh completed 72 for a 14-darter and pinned double 18 to go up 6-1. Despite scoring two 180s in leg eight, Van Duijvenbode doubled his score against Van den Bergh. However, the Belgian put an end to the match with a bang, throwing legs of 13 and 14 darts to win with a 104 average.
