Organizers confirmed that the Durand Cup 2025 would kick off on July 23, with the final set for August 23. The knockout stage has been scheduled to begin on August 16, shaping up a compact month of high-stakes football. The tournament opener features East Bengal FC taking on South United FC at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata. Matches are set to unfold across five cities—Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Shillong, Kokrajhar, and Imphal—with games also planned at the Khuman Lampak Main Stadium.

The Durand Cup matches will be live-streamed on the SonyLIV website and app and the live telecast will be on Sony Sports 2.

Durand Cup, which began in 1888 and is hosted by the Indian Army, will hold its 134th edition this year across Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Shillong, Kokrajhar and Imphal. The Indonesian Army football team will compete in the Durand Cup 2025 and the Nepal Army team is also expected to join the tournament roster.

Only six Indian Super League (ISL) teams are participating this year: East Bengal FC, Mohun Bagan Super Giant, NorthEast United FC, Jamshedpur FC, Punjab FC, and Mohammedan SC. This marks a sharp drop from the previous edition, which had included all 12 ISL sides. Alongside them, three I-League clubs—Diamond Harbour FC, Shillong Lajong, and Namdhari FC—have earned spots in the competition.

Notably, the lineup also includes institutional and regional teams like Indian Army FT, Indian Air Force FT, BSF FT, ITBP FT, Indian Navy FT, Bodoland FC, and Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC. The tournament features additional contenders such as TRAU FC, NEROCA FC, Real Kashmir FC, Rangdajied United FC, South United FC, and 1Ladakh FC, with two foreign service teams joining the fray to add an international edge.

NorthEast United FC, the defending champion, begins its campaign on August 2 against a foreign team yet to be named. Key fixtures across the group stage include Mohun Bagan SG vs Mohammedan SC on July 31, East Bengal vs Namdhari FC on August 6, and Shillong Lajong vs NorthEast United FC on August 8. Fans will also be watching the clash between Mohun Bagan SG and Diamond Harbour FC on August 9 with great interest. The final stages are mapped out with quarterfinals on August 16 and 17, followed by semifinals on August 19 and 20, and the title decider on August 23.
