Bengaluru FC and Hyderabad FC were both constantly looking for attacking opportunities, but neither team was able to maintain possession of the ball because of the game’s irregular nature. Odei Onaindia’s own goal gave the Blues the lead in the 31st minute. Prabir Das had brilliantly lofted a pass inside the box for Krishna as he slipped by two HFC players, but Onaindia mishandled the ball and it deflected in to the goal.
Bengaluru FC’s defense and Hyderabad FC’s offence largely fought for control of the game as it went on, but Bengaluru FC held on thanks to some tactful defending. Hyderabad FC made every effort to score, but Sandhu wouldn’t allow the ball to cross the line and made a series of saves to give Bengaluru the victory.
With this victory, Bengaluru FC advances to the Durand Cup final, where they will take on Mumbai City FC on Sunday at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. Bengaluru have continued their undefeated streak in this year’s Durand Cup competition and hence, will be favorites to lift the trophy.
