The Hanuma Vihari-led South Zone won the title last year after beating West Zone by 75 runs during the final game in Bengaluru.

The tournament will also likely feature India captain Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli, who last featured in 2016 and 2012 respectively.

The tournament will feature four teams this year, notably – India A, India B, India C and India D. The senior national selection committee chaired by Ajit Agarkar, will select the squads for the upcoming tournament.
Format
The tournament usually follows the zonal format, divided across six zones of the country. This year, the organizers have introduced a new format, featuring a revamp in its structure and overall system. The Duleep Trophy 2024 will follow a round-robin league-based format with no knockout matches scheduled. Following the end of the three rounds, the team with the most points in the standings will be declared champions.

The upcoming tournament is set to take place from September 5 to September 22 across three rounds. It will take place across two venues within the Anantapur Cricket Ground complex in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. According to reports, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, will host one match from the first round.
