Mexican drug lord, Rafael Caro Quintero has been arrested by Mexican marines after being on the run for the last ten years, know his net worth, wife, children and girlfriend

One of the most wanted FBI fugitives, Rafael Caro Quintero aka the narco of narcos, was finally arrested by Mexican marines on Friday, 15th July 2022. As per the Mexican navy official, the  69 years old fugitive was discovered by a military-trained female bloodhound search dog named Max while he was hiding behind a bush in San Simon in the state of Sinaloa, Mexico’s drug-trafficking heartlands.

Who is Caro Quintero Rafael?

Caro gained power back in 1980s and is is considered to be one of the founders of Guadalajara Cartel, one of Latin America’s most prominent drug rings. Caro is claimed to be one of the major methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine and marijuana trafficer of his time.

Caro abducted and murdered U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Agent, Enrique “Kiki” Camarena in 1985. Kiki raided a 2500-acre marijuana plantation in 1984. After that, he was abducted by Caro’s henchmen and was later brutally murdered by the drug lord.

After this incident Quintero was arrested and given 40 years long jail time.

Sara Cristina Cosío Gaona his girlfriend and Caro Quintero left Mexico on March 9, 1985, with his associates. His wife Diana Espinoza Salazar was named in the FBI Top Ten Most Wanted Fugitives List after US officials said that Caro Quintero remained active in the drug trade and added his wife to its list of drug traffickers. She was born on 17 July, 1970 and is aged 51.

Rafael Caro Quintero (born October 24, 1952) is a Mexican drug lord who co-founded the now-disintegrated Guadalajara Cartel with him currently aged 69 while his net worth stands at $650 million. His parents, Emilio Caro Payan and Hermelinda Quintero, had twelve children and he was the oldest of the males.

On August 9, 2013, Caro Quintero was released from custody after a state court ruled that his trial had been unjust.

Expectedly, the veteran drug lord walked back to drug trafficking and became part of the Sinaloa Cartel as soon as he was released.

After El Chapo was arrested, he started leading the Cartel.

He ranked on the FBI’s list of the Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitive offenders and placed a $20 million bounty on his head—a record for a narcotics trafficker.

Quintero’s Arrest

A video snippet of Rafael’s arrest has been released by Mexican marines. He was seen being held in both arms by men with assault guns while wearing pants, a sopping wet blue shirt, and a baggy khaki jacket.

He was found by a police search dog in Sinaloa. A naval Blackhawk chopper carrying 15 people crashed, killing 14, according to a navy statement. this is considered to be an “accident.”

The US has been appealing for the veteran drug lord’s extradition for a long time. He lost his final appeal to the US in March 2021.

Caro is no longer active in the drug trafficking circle. However, his arrest holds a major significance. he will be held in Altiplano prison until he is extradicted.
