The stadium was officially opened on March 4, 2008, and the IPL team Mumbai Indians used it for a short time as their home field. It has been the site of three IPL matches for the Mumbai Indians and the 2008 and 2010 Indian Premier League Finals.
How Is The Pitch At DY Patil Sports Cricket Stadium?
The pitch at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai is batting-friendly, with minimal aid for spin spinners and the average first-inning score is 146 runs.
On match day, the weather in Mumbai is not looking promising and there is a probability of rain, although it is unlikely that the game may be cancelled.
The whole outfield has been tilled, and 200 tonnes of soil from South Africa have been brought in to give it a real, springy surface. On the main field’s outfield, sand-based grass is used. This makes it safer for players and makes it easier for water to drain.
A drainage system will be built under the main surface to help move water away. The four floodlight towers are taller than usual, which helps keep night games from being too bright for batters. Because of this, it is called a “batting pitch.”
