Family members of the pregnant lady protested outside the hospital managed by Dr Sharma and her husband, demanding urgent action, according to news agency PTI. An FIR was filed against the doctor at the Lalsot Police Station.

The Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) has written to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, requesting a thorough inquiry, the removal of the FIR, and compensation for the obstetrician’s family.

The association went on to say that post-partum hemorrhage is a well-known problem in pregnant women after delivery and that a doctor “cannot be accused of medical negligence in any such incident, without proper investigation by an expert committee.”

Parsadi Lal Meena, Rajasthan’s health minister, said police should not have charged the doctor under Section 302 because the Supreme Court has already decided that doctors cannot be charged under that section.
