Dominic Thiem and Jack Draper are set to meet for the very first time in their ATP career so far.
In the first round, Thiem played fairly well against Wolf, but he was unable to play with the same fervour in the following one. Nevertheless, Dimitrov’s mid-game retirement gave him a second chance.
Draper’s gradual ascent to the top of the men’s game has continued. At the Canadian Open, he stunningly defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas. He was challenged here in the second round by Fognini, but he stayed focused to end the Italian’s comeback.
In the second round, both of them made more unforced errors than the winners. But because Thiem’s match was significantly shorter than Draper’s, it speaks negatively about his shot selection.
