On May 5 in Doha, the opening game of the 2023 Diamond League will feature Olympic and world champions.
It was disheartening for Olympic champion Andre De Grasse to finish sixth in his season-opening 200-meter event at the Botswana Golden Grand Prix.
The Canadian will be hoping for better when he faces Fred Kerley in the Qatari capital because Shericka Jackson, Michael Norman, Faith Kipyegon, and Soufiane El Bakkali are all expected to compete.
In 2023, Neeraj Chopra, the Indian Olympic javelin champion, will also take part in the competition for the first time.

Shericka Jackson leads a star-studded 100m women in Doha.
The women’s 100-meter dash should be one of the events that evening.
Jackson, the current world 200m champion, is leading the field in Doha in place of Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce and Elaine Thompson Herah, two other Jamaicans who were anticipated to participate.
The men’s 200-meter event is another thrilling contest, and De Grasse states that he has “unfinished business at the Worlds” before thinking about Paris 2024.

Another exciting field event could be the women’s pole vault, which will feature Olympic and world champion Katie Nageotte-Moon, fellow American Sandi Morris, and Australian Nina Kennedy.
