Age 65 Kaz Hosaka, a well-known dog handler and winner of the top prize in the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show passed away sadly, leaving the dog community in sadness

“We are all deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of Kaz Hosaka, a legendary handler and cherished member of the Westminster family,” Westminster Kennel Club said in the post.
He passed away from natural causes early June 23, 2024 leaving behind wife Roxanne Wolf.
65 year old Kaz Hosaka was well-liked in the competitive dog show circuit and was well-known for his extraordinary abilities in teaching poodles. Throughout his lengthy career, he won countless accolades and competitions thanks to his enthusiasm for dogs and dedication to his trade.

Sage, Hosaka’s miniature poodle, took home the top honor at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in May of this year. This is just one of his recent triumphs. Hosaka had declared that performance to be his last at the most prestigious event in the US. Hosaka and Sage also participated in the Thanksgiving Day 2023 National Dog Show in Philadelphia.
Hosaka began a 45-year career in the sport after traveling to the US in 1977 as an apprentice to a poodle breeder. The dog show community has lost a great member with his sudden passing, but he will be remembered for his many achievements and commitment.
