DJ Tira’s Family And Education
DJ Tira studied at Mlokothwa High School and enrolled at University of Natal now known as UKZN in 1995 for studying human resources. DJ Tira got married to Gugu Khathi and they have 2 sons and 1 daughter. DJ Tira and his wife hosted an Umabo at his home based in KwaHlabisa, KwaZulu-Natal. He was born to Abigail and his father’s name is not known.
DJ Tira Professional Career
DJ Tira developed his interest in being a DJ while he was studying at university when he began playing as a DJ in 1996. Around 2001, he released one of his first records named Real Makoya which is a compilation album with the DJ Khabzela. In 2005, DJ Tira signed a record deal with Kalawa Jazzmee. He formed a group named the Tzozo En Professor and later on, formed Durban’s Finest together with DJ Sox which also was under Kalawa Jazmee Records.
Tira and Sox both together have released a series compilation album which was named as Durban’s Finest. In 2007, Khathi launched his recording studio Afrotainment, and signed DJ Cndo as one of the first artist on his label. Since he was working at his own production, he became a music producer. Later on in that year only, DJ Tira signed to the kwaito group, the Big Nuz after they relocated from Johannesburg to Durban.
On the 24th of August in 2020, his fourth studio album 21 Years of the DJ Tira was released in South Africa, celebrating 21 years in the music industry. His album got certified platinum by the Recording industry of South Africa. In 2021, he co-hosted the 6th season of SABC 1 talent show competition. On the 25th of June in 2021, his 5th album Rockstar Forever was released in South Africa.
