THE DEATH OF JAMIE ROY
On September 21, 2022, his family announced on Facebook that Jamie Roy had gone away.
Jamie died yesterday, according to a statement from his family. “Jamie was a beloved and accomplished son, brother, nephew, and uncle who was adored by his numerous friends and coworkers both inside and beyond the music profession. We are all utterly devastated.
After announcing the single Let Us Sing’s impending release earlier this month and describing it as his “greatest track,” the musician tragically passed away.
ABOUT HIS CAREER
Jamie, who was raised in Dumfries, Scotland, had recently moved to Ibiza, Spain, where he had been working. The Scottish DJ and record producer known for performing in some of the world’s biggest nightclubs, has died at the age of 33. He was unmarried at the time of his death with his net worth at $2 million.
The well-liked performer had songs on the Skream’s Of Unsound Mind, Under No Illusion, and Patrick Topping’s Trick record labels, among other labels. His cause of death is yet not revealed by his family.
Following his ranking as the 46th biggest selling house artist, Jamie acknowledged his supporters in his most recent Instagram post.
One of his songs, Organ Belta, spent more than a year in the music charts after its first release.
He had a sizable fan base not just in Ibiza but also in the UK, where BBC Radio 1 played his songs.
TRIBUTES PAID TO DJ
Other musicians and many of Jamie’s admirers paid their condolences on social media.
Jamie received a photo from Sam Divine, who captioned it, “My brother! Words are inadequate to express the agony of never seeing me again! Love to the entire military and his family. This is making a different impact.
Another tribute was posted by DJ and producer Zoe London, who wrote: “I’m really heartbroken to hear about Jamie Roy passing this morning. I had been following him for a while and had always found his life and work in this field to be very inspirational. He struck me as a very nice and honest man. I’m sorry about the tragedy.”
