Former Las Vegas Raiders CB DJ Hayden passed away following a card accident along with five other people. The tragic car accident took place in the early hours of Saturday, November 11, 2023. According to reports, a Chrysler 300 ran a red light and crashed into a moving SUV. The collision proved fatal, as four people died on the spot, including a homeless man.
Meanwhile, four other people got injured and were hospitalized, of whom two have since succumbed to injuries. One of the survivors spoke to the police about the tragic incident, stating that the reason behind the crash remains unclear as of now. After spending two years with the Houston Cougars in the NCAA, D.J. Hayden started out his NFL career in 2013. He was the 12th overall pick of the Oakland Raiders (now Las Vegas Raiders) in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He joined the team on a four-year, $10.3 million rookie deal.
Hayden started in 25 games for the Raiders across four seasons. He then briefly joined the Detroit Lions in 2017, where he started only one game. Hayden then joined the Jacksonville Jaguars on a 3-year contract in the 2018 offseason. After playing 30 games across three seasons with the Jaguars, he was eventually released at the end of the 2020 NFL season.
