Pradeep Sarkar was a well-known director and writer. He has been in the news because he passed away recently at the age of 67.

He was born on April 30, 1955, in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. He did his graduation from the College of Art, New Delhi.

He was married, and his wife’s name is Panchali.

He died on March 24, 2023. At the time of his death, he was 67 years old.

His career

Pradeep Sarkar began his career by working in commercials and music videos. His production house has created some of the most iconic commercials of all time, including Tata Yellow Pages, ICICI Prudential, and Onida KY Thunder.

He is also known for his exceptional work in the field of music videos. Some of his most notable works include Shubha Mudgal’s ‘Ab Ke Saawan’, Euphoria’s ‘Dhoom Pichak Dhoom’ and ‘Maaeri’, Sultan Khan’s ‘Piya Basanti,’ and Bhupen Hazarika’s ‘Ganga’.

Subsequently, Pradeep Sarkar collaborated with Rajkumar Hirani on ‘Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.’ (2003) as an editor. He made his directing debut two years later with the Vidya Balan, Saif Ali Khan, and Sanjay Dutt-starring film ‘Parineeta.’ At the 53rd National Film Awards, he received the best debut director prize for the movie.

Notably, many of his movies have female main characters, like in ‘Laaga Chunari Mein Daag’ (2007), ‘Mardaani’ (2014), and ‘Helicopter Eela’ (2018).

He also directed the online series ‘Duranga,’ ‘Forbidden Love,’ and ‘Coldd Lassi Aur Chicken Masala.’ He was also anticipated to direct Kangana Ranaut in the Noti Binodini biography, a star of Bengali theater.
