Portuguese forward Diego Jota has reportedly sustained an injury in the national camp. Manager Santos talked about the player in the press conference where he said that Jota may not feature in the upcoming game for Portugal and will return back to Anfield. However, this is not confirmed and the decision is yet to be announced.

Jota failed to appear in the game against Qatar where Portugal crushed the Asian Champions by 3-0. Portugal will be playing Luxembourg in the next World up qualifier match. So, here are all the details about the injury of Diego Jota, including his return date.

Looking at Liverpool’s lineup one can say that Roberto Firmino is now replaced by Diego Jota. Moreover, Jota started all the Premier League games from the center-forward position beside Salah and Sadio Mane. He has scored 3 goals in 7 appearances made.

Portugal was supposed to play two matches in this international break. Furthermore, Jota was added to the squad but Santos confirmed in the press conference that he is not training with the team as he is not feeling well. The injury is said to be a muscle injury with the player set to miss Liverpool’s impending encounter.

Santos said Jota might appear on the bench, but also he doesn’t want to take any risk with a player who has not trained together.

Jota has returned to Anfield as he failed to pass Santos’ fitness test.

Jota Injury History

Jota signed for Liverpool last season and missed almost 19 games due to his knee injury. However, he played well as Mane and Firmino were out of form and Liverpool struggled to win matches.

Liverpool’s two midfielders Thiago and Harvey Elliott are currently injured. Thiago is suffering from a calf injury and is expected to return next month. Whereas, Elliott’s injury was serious and he is to for a minimum of six months.
