An image of a restaurant bill that is doing the rounds on the X platform (formerly known as Twitter) purports to show that Indian cricket player Virat Kohli is eating beef in a Florida restaurant.

An X account with the username Hydrogen X (Archived link) posted the bill’s screenshot and wrote in the caption:

Several other accounts posted the bill screenshot with the same claim. The claim turned out to be fake. Many Rohit Sharma and Kohli fans got engaged in the social media war editing the screenshot with the player’s names.

Virat Kohli didn’t consume beef in the Florida restaurant
Only Fact (onlyfact.in) performed a reverse image search to uncover the true narrative concealed in the bill’s screenshot. The outlet found a News18 article with a reverse image search. The article’s headline read, “US Man Ends Up Paying Rs 45K at Gordon Ramsay Restaurant After Misreading Menu.”
According to reports, Jeffrey Paige, a man from New Jersey, USA, went on a dinner date and tried a new dish without thinking to check the rate card. Thinking that the American Wagyu was more expensive, he decided to acquire a 12-ounce portion of 5A Japanese Kobe. But when he received a charge for $600, or Rs. 45,000, he soon saw his mistake.
The Only Fact outlet further informs that the Gordon Ramsay Steak restaurant at the Atlantic City Hotel was the scene of this incident in 2021. Their ignorance cost the couple forty-five thousand dollars. Following that, they posted the bill online, where it quickly gained enormous virality.
Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have turned into vegetarians
The elite cricket player has put a lot of effort into maintaining his physical health and making a conscious effort to eat well. He became a vegetarian in 2018 because of a worrisome health condition.
Taking about Anushka Sharma, the actress and Kohli’s wife has also tuned into a vegetarian since 2015. The “Rab ne ban di Jodi” actress originally considered giving up meat because she loved animals, and she made an effort to contribute to the growing movement against animal abuse for meat consumption.
