Twitter Blue verification status now costs $8 per month, which has caused a lot of debate among its users, know if LeBron James paid for his check

Some famous people have lost their proof ticks, but Taylor Swift, LeBron James, and Stephen King still have them. This has made people wonder if these famous people paid for their verified status.

The original blue tick method on the social media site was made to confirm that public figures were who they said they were. About 300,000 users were verified. But since Elon Musk took over the platform, Twitter has added three different coloured checkmarks: gold for verified businesses, grey for verified government officials, and blue for those who can pay to be verified.

Twitter told its users that if they didn’t pay the monthly fee by April 20, they would lose their verification. In the UK, a monthly membership to blue tick costs £11, and in India, it costs Rs 650.

In a report published Thursday by The Verge, it was revealed that a Twitter employee had emailed the Los Angeles Lakers star to “extend a complimentary subscription to Twitter Blue for your account, @kingjames, on behalf of Elon Musk.” Adam Mendelsohn, who works as a media adviser for LeBron James, said that James had not paid for proof.

Stephen King also denied paying for his blue tick status. In a tweet, the author said, “My Twitter account says I’ve subscribed to Twitter Blue. I haven’t. My Twitter account says I’ve given a phone number. I haven’t.”

Musk has said, however, that he pays for “a few” accounts “personally.”

Twitter users speculate on Musk’s involvement in celebrities’ Twitter blue tick status

One Twitter user responded to Musk’s tweet by saying, “Elon is automatically subscribing celebrities like Stephen King, LeBron James, and Taylor Swift to Twitter Blue to make it look like they’re down with his dumb charade.” “Choosing to believe Elon is paying for Taylor Swift’s checkmark,” said another.

Twitter’s Blue subscription fee has caused a lot of trouble, which has made people wonder about the platform’s goals and whether it puts making money ahead of user experience. Twitter might say that it needs to make money from its site to stay in business, but users might feel like they have to pay for verification, which should be free.
