However, despite claims that the fan from Uganada committed suicide after Manchester City clinched the Premier League title, it is yet to be be ascertained if the video is real or fake.
Meanwhile, family in Nairobi’s Huruma estate is in anguish and demanding justice after their son tragically died, allegedly at the hands of Manchester United fans.
The young man, a devoted Arsenal fan, reportedly lost his life following a heated altercation with rival team fans during Sunday’s Premier League match, which the Gunners won 1-0 at Old Trafford.
What Exactly Happened?
This unfortunate incident occurred during the thrilling game that significantly impacted the title race. As tensions rose, the confrontation between the deceased and the Manchester United fans turned violent.
Witnesses reported that the Manchester United supporters banded together and launched a brutal attack on the young man, leading to his tragic death.
Although the incident was reported to the authorities, no arrests have been made. The grieving family is urging law enforcement to expedite their investigation and bring those responsible for their son’s untimely death to justice.
This tragic event has not only devastated a family but also raised concerns about fan violence and the need for stricter measures to ensure the safety of football enthusiasts, both in stadiums and surrounding areas.
Similar Incidents
This is the second such incident in Kenya involving a Manchester United match this season.
In March, a man in Kawangware, Nairobi, sustained head injuries after being struck with a sharp piece of granite by a female fan during a confrontation in the first half of the Manchester derby, where United lost 3-1 to Manchester City.
Additionally, there have been several bizarre incidents involving United fans in Kenya during a challenging season for the Red Devils, who are eighth in the table heading into their final match against Brighton and Hove Albion this weekend.
In another news, in April, a Kenyan comedian was hospitalized after attempting to eat a bowl of pepper, fulfilling a promise made before United’s 4-3 loss to Chelsea in a Premier League match.
In September 2023, another fan was rushed to the hospital after trying to eat a tray of boiled eggs following United’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. He was reportedly so confident in United’s victory that he promised to consume the eggs if they lost.
