Cristiano Ronaldo has finally put an end to all of the rumours by getting signed by Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr with a report claiming Jaloliddin Masharipov has his contract suspended after refusing to hand over the number 7 jersey
He has always worn number 7 no matter where he played in the past. According to rumours, Al-Nassr has ended the former club number 7’s contract.
CR7’s 2nd stint with the United was a failure.
Did Al-Nassr FC terminate Jaloliddin Masharipov contract to give Cristiano Ronaldo number 7 jersey
Amid the most recent World Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo became a free agent in 2022. Tears were shed after his inflammatory interview, in which he attacked Manchester United while still under contract with the team. The prodigal hero of the United came home, but things ended very bitterly. Manchester United cancelled the agreement to demonstrate their control over the team and that of the manager.
The 37-year-old Portuguese also had a disastrous World Cup run. A fairly evenly-matched Portuguese team was eliminated in the quarterfinal after a shocking loss to Morocco.
Ronaldo wanted to leave United for other teams because he was willing to compete at the highest level, especially in the Champions League. The prestigious Champions League clubs, though, were far too hesitant to even consider him. The clubs couldn’t take the philosophical and financial risk of betting on the aged forward.
Jaloliddin Masharipov now sports the number 77 on his shirt.
Due to his unethical behaviour in his previous club, the big-name clubs were always reluctant to sign the Portuguese forward. Al-Nassr, though, never stopped pursuing the seasoned striker. The richest contract in football history was ultimately signed by the Portuguese to join the Saudi Pro League team.
His number 7 shirt is one of the Portuguese’s most recognisable trademarks. He only failed to receive it when he transferred from Manchester United to Real Madrid in 2009. Cristiano had to make do with the vacant number 9 for a season because Raul Gonzalez was the number 7 at the time. There is no way he will accept anything less than his number 7 shirt.
Social media was the source of a rumour regarding the previous Al-Nassr number 7. According to the story, Al-Nassr cancelled Jaloliddin Masharipov’s contract because he wouldn’t offer his number to the Portuguese.
Did Al-Nassr terminate the former no 7’s contract?
The rumour isn’t true at all. Prior to Ronaldo’s signing, the club assigned Jaloliddin Masharipov a new number. The 29-year-old Uzbekistan international received the number 77 in the middle of December. When asked about the event by SSC Sports, club president Musalli Ai Muammar responded, “People usually like to speak about anything, even when it comes to a player’s number on a training ground.”
As for the event, Muammar continued, “I approached the management about it, and they said he was on his way to Al Ahly in the summer, and his shirt number [No. 7] was reserved for another player. However, the deal ultimately fell through, so he took up a new number instead, as it relates to the Uzbek’s change of number.”
Masharipov’s contract termination was only a rumour, and he is now contently playing for the Saudi Arabian giants while donning the number 77.
