The DFB-Pokal is a German knockout football cup competition hosted yearly by the German Football Association (DFB). The league features 64 teams, including all clubs from the Bundesliga and the 2. Bundesliga. After the Bundesliga championship, it is regarded as the second most important club title in German football. The winner of the DFL-Supercup and the UEFA Europa League qualifies for the DFL-Supercup and the UEFA Europa League unless the winner qualifies for the UEFA Champions League in the Bundesliga.
The Tschammer-Pokal, as it was then known, was established in 1935. 1. FC Nürnberg were the inaugural champions. Schalke 04 was the first team to win the double in 1937.

SC Freiburg vs RB Leipzig
RB Leipzig finally clinched their first-ever trophy in their 13 years old club history on Saturday, winning 4-2 on penalties after drawing 1-1 with Freiburg following extra time.
It all started in the 19th minute when Maximilian Eggestein scored the game’s first goal, despite replays showing Roland Sallai handballed the cross to his teammate.
In the 76th minute, Christopher Nkunku equalized, but he couldn’t add a second, and no Freiburg player could in the remaining minutes.
Nkunku began with a crisp strike from the penalty spot, and it was soon 2-1.
Freiburg’s second shot was made by Christian Gunter, but it sailed past the bar, giving Leipzig the advantage. Kiliann Sildillia’s strike for Freiburg hit the crossbar and rebounded out of goal, giving Leipzig the win.
