Devin Haney looks all set to defend his WBC lightweight world title race against Joseph Diaz in what is going to be a much-awaited bout before the year comes to an end. The fight will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The gargantuan nature of this fight is the reason for there being a full capacity crowd at the event this weekend.

Devin Haney: Haney has had 26 fights and won all 26, 15 out of which were wins by knockout. He will give it his all to retain his WBC title when he locks horns with Diaz on Saturday. Post his fight with Jorge Linares in which he emerged victorious, Haney is pumped to defeat Diaz. As per reports, the American fighter’s guaranteed purse stands at $750,000, but this amount does not include the pay-per-view money and money earned internationally.
Once the fight has concluded, Haney’s earnings are expected to be increased to a total of $1.7 million when pay-per-view sales are also included. He also holds pay-per-view share contract deal with promotions. As for his last fight against Jorge Linares, Haney earned $700k.
Joseph Diaz Jr. : The 29-year old American has 32 wins and just one loss to his name across 34 fights, 15 out of which were knockout wins. Diaz was initially supposed to battle Ryan Garcia but because of his injury, Garcia was ruled out for the bout.
This led to Haney being confirmed as Diaz’s opponent in the upcoming lightweight title bout. In his previous fight, Diaz earned a total of $300k, with no pay-per-view shares being revealed. For his imminent fight with Daney, he will be earning a guaranteed purse of $500k. However this amount might increase if the pay-per-view sales continue to stay strapping enough.
