In the group stage of 2023 Deodhar Trophy, South Zone won all of their matches to qualify for the championship match and despite tenacious challenge from East Zone in the summit clash, the Duleep Trophy champions proved unstoppable. Ultimately, South Zone won by 45-runs to clinch the Deodhar Trophy.

2023 Deodhar Trophy final South Zone vs East Zone winner, result, score, & best performers
On 3rd August, the 2023 Deodhar Trophy championship match was played at the Cricket Association Puducherry Siechem Ground and after winning the toss, South Zone decided to bat first. Thanks to a solid 181-runs opening partnership between Rohan Kunnummal and skipper Mayank Agrawal, they were able to score 307-runs within 50 overs. Notably, Rohan scored 107-runs off 75 deliveries and Mayank managed 63-runs from 83 balls.
In response to the humongous target of 308-runs, East Zone struggled and were 115/5 after 24.4 overs. However, Riyan Parag and Kumar Kushagra’s explosive batting gave them some glimmer of hope. Riyan scored 95-runs from just 65 deliveries and Kushagra blasted 68-runs off 58 balls. After Kushagra was dismissed, East Zone lost their rhythm to lose wickets in quick succession. Ultimately, they were bowled out at 283-runs with 23 balls left and lost by 45-runs.
Final Result: South Zone won by 45-runs against East Zone

Although he was unfortunate to lose the 2023 Deodhar Trophy final, Riyan Parag’s amazing run during the tournament saw him bag 354-runs to become th highest run scorer. Additionally, he was recognized as the Player of the Series for his contribution to East Zone’s superb run.
Elsewhere, South Zone opener Rohan Kunnummal earned the Player of the Final award after scoring 107-runs in the summit clash. It is confirmed that South Zone will earn INR 40 Lakhs as prize money as champions of the 2023 Deodhar Trophy. Meanwhile, East Zone will earn rewards worth INR 20 Lakhs after finishing as the runner-up.
