Delhi Esports Open Championship 2025 Concludes with Record Participation of 4250 Players

The Delhi Esports Open Championship 2025 concluded successfully at the Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT), setting a new benchmark for competitive gaming in the National Capital Region

The event witnessed a record 4250 participants from Delhi and NCR, making it one of the first state-centric Esports tournament hosted after the passing of the gaming bill.

Organized under the aegis of the Federation of Electronic Sports Associations India (FEAI), a national esports organisation with presence in 27 states and union territories. The Delhi Championship was hosted under the Delhi state association – the Indraprastha Esports Association. The championship featured six competitive titles:

● BGMI: 710 Teams (3550 individuals)
● EA FC 25: 140
● Real Cricket: 110
● eChess: 250
● eFootball (Mobile): 160
● Street Fighter 6: 40

The event witnessed the presence of Shri P.V.N. Madhav, BJP State President, Andhra Pradesh, as the Chief Guest at the Grand Finale and encouraged the young esports athletes who had qualified after multiple rounds of intense competition.

Event Impact

The championship not only provided a competitive platform for emerging esports talent but also demonstrated Delhi’s potential to become a national hub for esports development. With a prize pool of INR 1.5lac it was a Championship that honoured talent across NCR. All participating players will be issued a certificate of recognition by FEAI and a detailed performance update will be submitted to the Sports Department of the Government of Delhi.

FEAI endeavours to formalise such convenings with the respective state sports departments to build player confidence and that of their wards in this new age sport. Such tournaments are aimed to formalise talent identification programs.
With esports gaining global recognition and events like the Esports Olympic Games 2027 announced by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), this championship served as a stepping stone for preparing Delhi’s youth for international stages.

The tournament also highlighted the rapid growth of the esports ecosystem in India, which already boasts over 500 million gamers and a thriving industry encompassing game development, broadcasting, event management, and professional training opportunities.
