Out of the 16 teams taking part, 12 of the teams qualified earlier this year, while Italy and Spain automatically earned their spots after reaching the 2023 finals. Meanwhile, Great Britain and Spain entered the competition as wildcard picks.
Davis Cup 2024 dates and venue
The group stage matches begin yesterday, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, and will go on till Sunday, September 15. The fixtures for the group stage matches are currently taking place across four different venues. All of the Group A matches are taking place in Bologna, while Valencia is hosting all the Group B matches. Meanwhile, all the Group C fixtures are taking place in Zhuhai, China, with Manchester hosting the Group D matches.
Davis Cup 2024 format
All the 16 teams are competing in a four-team group stage format, following which the two top teams from each group will qualify for the knockout stage. The knockout stages are set to take place later this year in Malaga in November. All the matches in the Davis Cup ties are best-of-three matches, all played on the same day. Each match features two best-of-three singles matches, followed by a doubles match.
