Dave Wills was hospitalised in Toronto last year because he had supraventricular tachycardia, a heart condition that kept his heart from beating normally.

Before joining the Rays in 2005, Wills worked as a radio announcer for the White Sox for 11 years. Wills started his career as a sportscaster in the minor leagues. He worked for the St. Petersburg Cardinals, the Quad City Angels, and the Kane County Cougars. He then went to Notre Dame, where he called football and basketball games for the Fighting Irish for six years.
Wills joined the Chicago White Sox radio team in 1995. He worked there for 11 years and called games with Ed Farmer. Wills was a part of the White Sox’s pre- and post-game shows while he was on the team.
