A former Saskatchewan Roughrider and 1989 Grey Cup Champion, David Albright, has left us for his heavenly abode, know his cause of death
The former linebacker passed away at the age of 63 in Redondo Beach, California. The tragic news of his demise was confirmed by the Riders in a social media post on Saturday afternoon.

The former player reportedly died after suffering from a heart attack one day after his 63rd birthday.

The Riders took to Twitter and penned down a heartfelt post that reads, “The Saskatchewan Roughriders are saddened to learn of alumnus David Albright’s sudden passing. We send our deepest condolences to his family, and loved ones.”

Although the Canadian football team that is based in Regina, Saskatchewan have announced that their former linebacker died due to unknown reasons.
Who was Dave Albright?
For those who are unfamiliar with the former linebacker, let us tell, Dave became a member of the green and white in 1986 and remained with them until 1991.
In the 1987 season, he set a single-season record for defensive tackles that came away with 118. His record was broken during the 2022 season 35 years later when Darnell Sankey made 120 tackles.
After learning about the demise of Albright, another former linebacker, Dan Rashovich stated on Saturday that “Dave was so passionate about the game of football and life.”
He further stated that “He played hard, played fast, and lived life to the fullest. He was one of the toughest and best teammates, and one of the best friends a guy could ever have.”
The team’s post stated that Albright remained 13th all-time defensive tackles in the CFL and second all-time with the Roughriders.
He graduated from San Jose State University and later made his pro debut with the United States Football League’s Memphis Showboats in 1985.
A year later he made his CFL debut on Sept 14, 1986, when Roughriders and Hamilton played a 21-21 tie against Taylor Field. The game eventually turned out to be the first overtime game in CFL history.
During the 1989′ Western Final, the linebacker recovered a fumble and ran for 62 yards for a game-changing touchdown.
Eventually his team won the Western Final against Edmonton and later he went to capture its second-ever Grey Cup in 1989.
