Following a complaint lodged by the deceased’s family, the local police have arrested three individuals, including the young girl, on charges of abetment of suicide.

The deceased, identified as Deben Kalita, was discovered lifeless in his home on Friday. It is believed that he took his own life in response to the anguish caused by the video circulating online. Concerned residents alerted Kalita’s family about the footage, prompting them to file a complaint against the young girl involved.
The authorities have identified the individuals arrested as Darshana Bharali, Abhishek Kashyap, and Kishalay Sarma, all aged between 20 and 21. According to the police, the trio engaged in the production of videos with the aim of generating income by uploading them to websites.
Mohanlal Meena, the superintendent of police for Jorhat district, revealed that Darshana Bharali, a student at Devicharan Barua Girls’ College, and Abhishek Kashyap, enrolled at Chandra Kamal Bezbaruah Commerce College, were in a relationship. Allegedly, the couple produced videos, which Kashyap later uploaded to international platforms.
It is suspected that the trio profited from these videos by monetizing them on various websites. The police are also examining the bank records of the arrested individuals as part of their inquiry.
Superintendent of Police Meena stated, “Based on the complaint lodged by family members of Kalita, we arrested the girl and two others.” He further disclosed that Kalita, upon viewing the video, experienced profound embarrassment and distress, which may have led to his untimely demise. The case is being treated as a suicide related to the video incident.

The body of Deben Kalita has been sent for post-mortem examination, and the arrested individuals will undergo the necessary legal procedures in court.
Meanwhile, the girl involved has also filed a complaint against Abhishek Kashyap.. The police are currently investigating if there are any additional angles or individuals involved in the case.
