Following the injury, Ings could possibly miss at least two Premier League matches or even more.
How it happened
Danny Ings, had just come off the bench to make a debut for his new club West Ham United when the injury took place. The Hammers were 2-0 up over Everton and with just 18 minutes left on the clock, the new signing came on to replace Michail Antonio. Although the Hammers managed to win the match with a clean sheet, Ingsleft the pitch with a disappointing debut.
The Guardian, first reported on the injury, stating it to be a knee injury, which will keep him out of several upcoming matches. As of now, there is no clear return date.
Possible return date
According to various sources, Danny Ings could possibly return midway through next month. This will however, mean that he is set to miss several matches. West Ham are scheduled to face Derby County next in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Ings will miss the match but he was however already not eligible to feature in that match. This is because he already played in the competition just this month against Stevenage for his old club Aston Villa.
West Ham’s next four matches in February in the Premier League are against Newcastle United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Nottingham Forest. Ings will probably miss the first two games against Newcastle and Chelsea. However, he could make a possible return for the away trip to Spurs scheduled on February 19.
Ings is the latest name to feature on the club’s long injury list. Currently, West Ham is having a tough time as Gianluca Scamacca and Maxwel Cornet are also out with injury. This leaves Moyes with only Antonio again as West Ham’s only fit striker.
