Prediction

Top seed Daniil Medvedev will face sixth seed Jannik Sinner in the Erste Bank Open quarterfinals on Friday.

Medvedev won his first match by a score of 6-2, 6-2 over Nikoloz Basilashvili and advanced to the Round of 16, where he will take on Dominic Thiem. The opening set between the two US Open champions was closely challenged before Medvedev made the first break in the eighth game. Thiem faced a break point in the very next game, but the Russian avoided it and broke the Austrian again to take the set 6-3. After breaking in the fourth game of the second set, Medvedev won it 6-3 to go to the quarterfinals.

On the other hand, In the first round of the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, Chilean Cristian Garin met sixth-seeded Jannik Sinner. Both players had strong service games in the opening set, but the Italian broke to take the match 6-3 in the eighth game. Sinner kept up his pace in the second set, taking it 6-2 to advance to the Round of 16 and face Francisco Cerundolo.

Both players exchanged breaks in the first few games of the first set until the Italian broke his opponent to win it 7-5. Despite Cerundolo’s best efforts, Sinner prevailed 6-3 in the second set despite Cerundolo’s heroic efforts to rally. Sinner therefore advanced to the Erste Bank Open last four.

Sinner likes to play aggressively from the baseline and will make the most use of all of his powerful groundstrokes, especially his forehand. The Italian will want to take advantage of the Russian’s second serve because during the competition, he has won 24 of the 39 points on his opponent’s second serve. Medvedev has kept up a good appearance all week and seems to be settling into fatherhood without any problems. Be ready for a Russian victory in this contest.
