Jannik Sinner awaited him in the quarterfinals, after Medvedev easily defeated Dominic Thiem and Nikoloz Basilashvili in straight sets to advance to the last eight. By breaking his opponent’s serve in the first game and extending his lead with a hold of serve, the Russian got the match off to a strong start. After that, neither player had a service lapse, and in the ninth game, Sinner even managed to save a set point while serving.

By serving the last point of the first set, Medvedev won the following game. The former World No. 1 immediately established a 3-1 lead in the second set. The final three games were won by Medvedev, who continued to control the match and prevailed 6-4, 6-2.

On the other hand, To move on to the round of 8, Dimitrov had to defeat Thiago Monteiro and Andrey Rublev. He soon established a lead, going on to win the first set 3-0. The Bulgarian kept the lead and asserted it till the end of the set. Giron improved in the second set and took the early lead by a break. Dimitrov, however, soon fought back to even the score.

The American broke his opponent’s serve in the ninth game to take the set. Dimitrov missed his chance to get Giron back into the match after having a break advantage and a 2-1 lead in the third set. He managed to break serve once more in the ninth game, and he went on to win the match 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Dimitrov has the skill to compete with the Russian at the top of his game. But Medvedev is in terrifying shape right now and ought to have no trouble beating his opponent.
