Prediction
At the Daulet National Tennis Center in Nur-Sultan on Wednesday night, Finn Emil Ruusuvuori defeated Swiss Marc-Andrea Huesler 6-0, 6-2 to advance to the second round of the Astana Open. Meanwhile, Daniil Medvedev, who lost his World No. 1 ranking following the US Open, had a strong start. He defeated Albert Ramos Vinolas in straight sets. With just four games lost in the entire match, the second seed defeated the Spaniard 6-3, 6-1.
Ruusuvuori is still not well known for its great stability. Only two major tournaments, namely, the Pune Top-2 and the London Top-8, were added to Emil’s portfolio during the current season, which cannot be described as an impressive achievement. Many unforced mistakes account for the majority of Finn failures. It does, however, sporadically persist at the broken trough due to the loss of initiative.
Prior until today, Scandinavian failures were commonly blamed to a humdrum lack of experience, but now everything should be in line. The player humiliated Mark-Andrea Husler on the neighbourhood courts. But the toughest group ends any chance of progress.
On the other hand, Medvedev did not enter the remaining games of the season in the best of spirits. The Russian only lost four games to Albert Ramos in Kazakhstan, and just a few days earlier, he had been forced to resign from the Mets by Stanislas Wawrinka. Los Cabos was the lone cup added to the Russian’s collection this year, and as a result, the Russian lost the top spot in the global rankings. The player must prioritise the Paris Masters or ATP Finals if he wants to leave for vacation in a positive frame of mind.
