Recently acquired D’Angelo Russell sustained an ankle injury in the first quarter. What injury does D’Angelo Russell have?

On February 23, during the Lakers’ victory over the Warriors, Russell sprained his right ankle. While inbounding the ball, Russell stepped backwards onto Warriors guard Donte DiVincenzo’s foot and instantly collapsed to the floor. He played the game for approximately a minute, then left and did not come back. In his eight minutes of action, Russell finished with two points, four rebounds, and three assists.

Russell was traded by Minnesota to Los Angeles before the trade deadline. Through four games, he has averaged 13.5 points, 5.0 assists, and 3.5 rebounds for the Lakers.

How much time will D’Angelo Russell miss?

Russell’s ankle X-rays came back negative, and according to Lakers reporter Mike Trudell, he will remain day-to-day. The Lakers do not consider it to be a significant injury, TNT’s Chris Haynes further stated.

According to Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times, Russell described his ankle as “sore” after the game. It is the same as any other ankle injury. However, it will take some time. With proper medication and treatment, Russell will be back as soon as possible. On Friday, Russell underwent another evaluation. Russell will not suit up when the Los Angeles Lakers take on Dallas on Sunday, according to Lakers head coach Darvin Johnson.
