Dan Evans and Yoshihito have met five times in their career so far on the tour level and the player from the United Kingdom, Evans has never won a single match against Yoshihito from Japan.

These two victories for Nishioka happened earlier this year in Miami and Washington, and both matches ended in a third set.

Prediction

Dan Evans and Yoshihito Nishioka are set to meet for the sixth time on an official ATP court.

On Monday, September 26, the 25th-ranked player in the world, will face the Japanese player on Day 2, after getting an opening round bye, will play each other at the 2022 Korea Open which will be held for the first time since 1996.

With the final seven first-round matches all planned for Tuesday in the South Korean capital, Day 2 of the ATP Seoul Open could be fascinating.

Although the Japanese can be a frustrating opponent, Evans shouldn’t have too much trouble playing against him because of his slicing and ability to hit off lower-bouncing shots. He has previously lost to Nishioka twice this year, although both of those matches required a deciding set. Theoretically, this matchup doesn’t have nearly enough of an advantage to support that kind of outcome in their confrontations. Evans should eventually be able to defeat the Japanese, who at this point likely also have a slight psychological advantage.
