CS:GO release date in 2023 for Counter-Strike 2 playable beta known via leaks
Something weird just happened. Latest NVIDIA drivers introduced support for unknown app executables called "csgos2.exe" and "cs2.exe". Why project is called Counter-Strike 2 and what are you cooking @csgo? https://t.co/U9YKlAjwgy pic.twitter.com/PU8Op9uGLq

It won't be new game, it won't be Counter-Strike 2, it won't be even a rebrand, just CS:GO Source 2
And your skins are fine, they will be available in new version.

The Richard Lewis article made it sound like it was going to be a new game called counter strike 2 which is a bit misleading

Counter Strike is a shooter game, which has been around in the gaming world in one form or another for over 20 years now.
Counter-Strike 2 playable beta leaks
Despite no confirmation from Valve, Steam, or anyone else, recent leaks suggest that a new playable beta dubbed as Counter-Strike 2 is set for release. A recent NVIDIA leak revealed some executable files called “cs2” and “csgo2”, which could signal a beta launch as close as later this month.
@gabefollower a notable Counter-Strike leaker, also unveiled the curious additions to the NVIDIA driver update.
gabefollower stated:
I’ve got fairly reliable information that Valve has been testing CS:GO on Source 2 with the help of third-party QA companies in the US and EU since at least early December. I can’t confirm this 100 per cent, but it’s decent enough to share.”
gabefollower however, concluded that
It won’t be [a] new game, it won’t be Counter-Strike 2, it won’t be even a rebrand, just CS:GO Source 2. And your skins are fine, they will be available in a new version”.
Meanwhile, journalist Richard Lewis also confirmed that:
a new version of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive [is] on its way” and added that it is “almost certainly set to be released under the working title of Counter-Strike 2”.
Lewis further added how:
The tentative release date for the beta is in this month of March with April 1st at the outside”.
Meanwhile, some other sources state that the cs2.exe that NVIDIA found is “old and irrelevant”. It sated this while assuring players “your skins are safe, no separate games are being made”.
Whether the new update release or not, there’s no denying that Counter-Strike’s appeal is at an all-time high. The popular shooting game recently broke its all-time concurrent PC user peak. Counter-strike broke the record after 11 years since its original launch on Steam by hitting 1.3 million players.
