For those who don’t know, the CrossFit Games is the culmination of a five-part competitive season that started in February with the CrossFit Open, the tournament that is open to the entire community. The top 10% of the field advanced to the Quarterfinals in March, a four-day online competition with five events. The top 10% of those athletes then participated in one of 10 Semifinals in May and June, which reduced the field to its present size.

A total of 12 rookie athletes and 28 veterans will compete this year on the men’s side, while in the women’s division there will be 16 newcomers and 24 returning competitors.

2022 NOBULL CrossFit Games Standout Players & Favorites to Win

In a survey conducted by CrossFit magazine The Morning Chalk Up, 88 percent of respondents identified Justin Medeiros and Patrick Vellner as the two contenders most likely to win the title of Fittest Man On Earth in 2022. Each of Vellner and Medeiros has previously placed on the podium at an event. Vellner, a six-time Games participant, has won silver twice and bronze twice, most recently in 2021. The current champion and two-time Olympian Medeiros finished third in 2020 before making history by winning the inaugural title following Mat Fraser last year.

Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr, a five-time champion, is without a doubt the greatest female CrossFit athlete that has ever competed. If she wins the gold once more, she will surpass Mat Fraser, a longstanding training partner, and become the only six-time champion in any discipline.
