The team has included the name of Kerala’s sensational cricketer, Rohan, who had just made his first class debut 2 years ago.

Who’s Rohan Kunnummal?

For those who are unfamiliar with Rohan, let us tell you, the Indian cricketer whose full name is Rohan Sushil Kunnummal was born in Palakkad, Kerala, India on May 10, 1998. He is a Hindu by religion.

His father is an entrepreneur while his mother is a Bank Manager. Though the player was born in Palakkad district of Kerala, he grew up in Koyilandy, Kozhikode.

Kunnummal had started training cricket initially under the guidance of his father, who’s a cricket enthusiast and a former cricketer.

When Rohan turned 9, he went to a cricket academy, named Sussex Cricket Academy, in Kozhikode, where he trained under coach Santhosh Kumar.

The player had completed a degree of B.A in English Literature from Malabar Christian College, in Kozhikode.

For those who are unversed, let us tell you, Rohan represents Kerala in domestic level cricket. He is a right-handed opening batsman, who particularly plays aggressively against spin bowling.

He is also an occasional right arm off break bowler. In an earlier interview, a former Indian cricketer, Tinu Yohannan described Rohan as a “match-winner,” before praising him for his hand eye coordination.

Career

For those who are unsure, let us tell you, Rohan has represented his domestic team Kerala in several competitions for Under-14, 16, 19 and 25.

In 2016-17, during Vinoo Mankad Trophy, Rohan represented Kerala against Goa, where he scored a total of 162 runs in the inter-state tournament.

In the same year, for Cooch Behar Trophy, the player had made an unbeaten score of 253 against Delhi when he represented Kerala for Under-19.

His performance at the Cooch Behar Trophy and Vinoo Mankad Trophy was way too mesmerizing that it made him earn a spot at the Indian Under-19 Cricket squad, which played for 5-match one day series against England in 2017.

Though the 24-year-old player was removed from the squad as BCCI decided to only let those players in who would be eligible to play the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

He went unsold in the IPL 2023 auction.
