India qualifies as hosts, and the other qualified teams are Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa. All these teams qualified through the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League, where the Netherlands and Sri Lanka secreted the final two places back in Zimbabwe this last summer, and the West Indies missed out on the qualifications for the first time in the history of the team.

The Tournament

It’s interesting to remember that this is the first men’s cricket World Cup hosted solely by India. The tournament is taking place in many different stadiums—ten,  to be exact—in ten different cities across India. The first and second semi-finals will be held at the Wankhede Stadium in the city of Mumbai and Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The finals will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
