Aakash Chopra Questions Jay Shah On India Cricket Team Bench Strength
Jay Shah praised the bench strength of the Indian team
The BCCI secretary Jay shah has been absolutely pleased with the recent performance of India’s second-string team. In the recent home tours, India rested their big names and still managed to win the series. The phenomenal performance of young Indian players has made India a side that has immense bench strength.
Jay Shah spoke about the roadmap for the Indian team going ahead, “In the future, you will have a scenario, where the Indian Test team will be playing a series in one country and the white-ball team will be engaged in a series in a different country.”
Aakash Chopra is not so convinced with Jay shah’s Bench Strength remark
Akash Chopra said”Our Honorable BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had said that with the help of VVS Laxman, who is the head at NCA, they are preparing a pool of 50 players. But you need to take this with a pinch of salt,”
Indian team at the beginning of this year toured South Africa. The Indian side got whitewashed in the ODI series with their full-strength side. And just a year ago Sri Lanka defeated India 2-1 in a T20 series. The indian who toured Sri Lanka were full of inexperienced players. Sri Lanka who is not in their best position defeated India convincingly.
Adding to that He said, “India had sent a second-string side to Sri Lanka where the likes of Chetan Sakariya, Devdutt Padikkal, and Ruturaj Gaikwad made their debuts. After whatever happened on that tour, we were very bullish that we would field two teams and win everywhere,”
“But India couldn’t win a single game in South Africa in 2022. So suddenly you realized that the depth you are talking about may not be really there. That was like a reality check,”
