The Copa America 2024 is all set to begin later this month, and ahead of the start of the competition, the organizers have announced the official mascot name, songs, and other competition details
The Copa America is a quadrennial event that generally features 16 teams, ten from the CONMEBOL and six from the CONCACAF.

This year’s 2024 Copa America tournament will take place in the United States, and it is set to begin on June 20 and go on until July 14.

The Copa America 2024 will consist of 16 teams. Ten of these teams are from the South American Soccer Confederation (CONMEBOL), while the other six are from the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF).
The organizers have divided all the teams into four groups, based on their performance and potential, through a draw. Following the end of the first round, the top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stages. From there, the teams will compete in a direct knockout format. The final two teams will then face off at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, on July 14, 2024.

The Copa America 2024 will feature several icons to represent the spirit of the event, of which the official mascot will be an eagle called “Capitan”. Capitan symbolizes the unique blend of South American soccer passion mixed with the vibrant American atmosphere.

Aside from the official mascot unveil, the organizers have unveiled “Puntería,” as the tournament’s official song. Shakira and Cardi B have collaborated to make the official soundtrack for Copa America 2024. Following the unveiling, Shakira stated:
It is a good pop song for the summer, which includes the incredible Cardi B, and it is an honor that it is the soundtrack of this massive cultural event.”
