2022 Commonwealth Games – Women’s Rugby Sevens Australia vs Fiji Final Result, Score, And Gold Medal Winner
After defeating Fiji 22-12, the Australian Women’s Rugby Sevens team won the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games. Faith Nathan hit a double in the first half and helped Australia secure the first gold medal in programme history. This came after an outstanding semi-final performance to defeat New Zealand 17–12, obtaining some sort of payback for Gold Coast four years prior.
The World Series champions Australia stunned Fiji to win their first gold medal in the competition after a tough first half. Australians got off to a great start with a first-half double from Faith Nathan, and then Nathan passed the ball to Madison Ashby as they went into halftime leading 17-0. Before two late tries from Fiji made the score closer than it really was, Maddison Levi’s 10th try of the competition placed the outcome beyond question.
