The Indian men’s team has won two silver medals in the competition’s six iterations, in 2010 and 2014. In the last competition, held in Gold Coast in 2018, the team came in fourth place but lost to England in the bronze medal game. But since then, a lot has changed for the Indian hockey team, who cemented their dominance by taking home the bronze at Tokyo 2021. With six gold medals, Australia has dominated the competition. England has won three bronze medals, while New Zealand’s neighbors have won two silvers and a bronze.

Participating Teams, Countries And Format
The other teams qualified based on the FIH Men’s World Ranking, while England qualified as the host nation and Australia qualified as the defending champions. The top two teams from each group go to the semi-finals, and the other teams are assigned to lower classification matches to determine their ultimate ranking. Ten teams were divided into two groups in March 2022.

2022 Commonwealth Games – Men’s Hockey Teams, Groups, Latest Results, Upcoming Schedule, Date, Time, And Venue
One of the sports taking place at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, is field hockey. Since its introduction in the 1998 Commonwealth Games, hockey has been played seven times, with the most recent event scheduled to take place in England. The University of Birmingham Hockey and Squash Center will host the men’s field hockey competition for the 2022 Commonwealth Games from July 29 to August 8, 2022.
The Indian men’s hockey squad will compete at 2022 Commonwealth Games in Group B alongside teams from Ghana, Wales, England, and Canada. Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan, and Scotland make up Group A, which also includes the defending champions. India have an excellent chance of winning the Group and avoiding Australia in the Semifinals because England is their only formidable opponent.
Indian squad coached by Sjoerd Marijne lost 1-2 to England in the third-place game in 2018, dropping them to fourth place. The team’s chances of winning a medal in Birmingham are excellent. Only time will tell if it’ll be worth gold. However, current coach Reid claimed that the only thing on his mind right now is India’s July 31 encounter against Ghana.
