2022 Commonwealth Games – Men’s Hockey Final Schedule, Day, Time, Venue, India vs South Africa Winner, Score, And India vs Australia Gold Medal Match
India’s striker Abhishek’s outstanding field goal gave them the lead in the 20th minute despite their inability to get through South Africa’s penalty corner formation. Abhishek maneuvered past the man-marked South African defense, found a gap in Gowan Jones from the right edge of the D, and hammered the ball accurately in the bottom left corner. In the 28th minute, India increased their advantage to two goals as Gurjant Singh’s precise pass from the right wing to Mandeep Singh, who slapped the ball past the South African goalkeeper from the right side to make it 2-0.
Although PR Sreejesh returned to the goal in the third period, the South Africans were still able to recover by scoring through a penalty corner in the 33rd. Later, Jugraj Singh put it in the post to the left of the defenders as the goalkeeper was out of the picture, giving India a two-goal lead. With just over a minute left, Mustapha Cassiem pushed it hard for South Africa after they had been awarded a penalty corner. This was the start of yet another comeback for South Africa but it fell short and India won 3-1.
On Monday, the Commonwealth Games 2022 men’s hockey gold medal game between India and Australia will take place. Meanwhile, South Africa will face England in the Bronze Medal Match on Sunday.
