At 2022 Commonwealth Games, McHugh & Burnett duo claimed the men’s volleyball event gold medal after a thrilling 17-21 21-17 20-18 victory against Sam Schachter & Daniel Dearing of Canada. Four years ago, McHugh and Damien Schumann won the first-ever Commonwealth medal for the sport at the Gold Coast as the Canadian duo of Schachter and Sam Pedlow were defeated by McHugh-Schumann in a hard-fought three-set match in 2018.

2022 Commonwealth Games – Beach Volleyball Australia vs Canada Final Results, Score, And Medal Winners
The Australian team of Chris McHugh and Paul Burnett maintained composure to win the gold medal in men’s beach volleyball at Birmingham 2022.
In the gold medal match on Sunday, the Australians overcame a set deficit, preserved two championship points, and maintained composure as a referee started to melt in the Birmingham heat. Sam Schachter and Daniel Dearing from Canada were defeated by McHugh and Burnett in a thrilling match with a score of 17-21 21-17 20-18.
The Australians dropped the opening set but rallied to win the second before winning the thrilling deciding set. Chris McHugh and Paul Burnett, the gold medalists for Australia in beach volleyball at the Commonwealth Games, acknowledged that they were nervous before their incredible comeback victory over Canada.
The Bello twins won the first beach volleyball medal ever awarded to England at the Commonwealth Games, cruising to a historic victory. Against Rwanda’s Olivier Ntagengwa and Venuste Gatsinzi, the Bellos won the match in straight sets with a score of 21-11, 21-12 to win the bronze medal.
