England finished second on the podium with a record 176 medals, 57 gold, 66 silver and 53 bronze. England beat their previous record with 174 medals in Glasgow 2014.
After the success of the hosts, the head of mission of England praised the efforts on his part of England;
‘‘It was an absolutely exceptional Games for the English team and what was exceptional about it, I think, is the fact that this is a very young, ambitious team,” he said. “We have 17-year-old youth winning gold medals.
