India para-athletes are all set to take part in the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games Para—Athletic events, know the athletes list in swimming, powerlifting and athletics
India will take part in four para-sports events in this edition – Athletics (Discus Throw and Shot Put), Powerlifting, Swimming and Table Tennis. The country will feature 12 athletes as part of the para-athlete contingent in the upcoming sporting event.
The Para Commonwealth Games are scheduled to take place simultaneously with the Commonwealth Games. The last 2018 Gold Coast games happened to be the largest ever para-sports event in the history of CWG. There, four Indian para-athletes took part in two para-sport events – swimming and table tennis.

Athletics Para-Athletes CWG 2022
Devender Kumar, the Indian World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2021 gold medalist, will also take part in the upcoming event. Devender won a gold medal in discus throw after throwing the discus to a distance of 50.61 m. Besides him, experienced shot-putters like Poonam Sharma and Sharmila will be eyeing the medal this time.

Powerlifting Para-Athletes CWG 2022
Sakina Khatun who is set on participating in this year’s para athletic powerlifting is looking for a gold medal finish. Khatun had last won a bronze medal in the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Indain para-swimmers, Vaishnavi Jagtap and Kiran Tak finished 6th and 7th respectively in the finals. This time around, the two para-athletes will get another opportunity to win some medals.

Table Tennis Para-Athletes CWG 2022
In the 2018 games, Para-paddlers Maitreyee Sarkar and Vaishnavi Sutar could not qualify for the finals. The inclusion of paddlers like Bhavina Patel, who won a bronze in Tokyo Paralympics and Sonalben has added to the strength of the Table Tennis contingent.
