Alan Grant was a widely popular Scottish comic book writer who was well known for writing Judge Dredd in 2000 AD as well as various Batman titles from the late 1980s to the early 2000s. Alan Grant was also the co-creator of the characters Anarky, Victor Zsasz, and the Ventriloquist.

Alan Grant hailed from Bristol, England. After leaving the school, Alan Grant worked briefly in a bank. Grant was married to Mrs. Susan Grant and lived with her in Moniaive, Dumfriesshire. Alan died at the age of 73 years and he was famous for the comics and being a television writer for his work on the Judge Dredd series. Grant’s cause of death were age-related ailments with him suffering from a lenghty illness. He attended Newton Grange Primary School and Dalkeith High School.

Alan Grant entered the comic industry in year 1967 when Alan became an editor for D.C. Thomson before shifting to London from Dundee in year 1970 to work for IPC on various romance magazines.
Alan Grant was involved with writing scripts for animation as well as his comic work, notably working on Action Man cartoons as well as original anime. Alan remained the main writer for Judge Anderson and Robo-hunter and has teamed up with Wagner for a new Bogie Man story for the Judge Dredd Megazine.
He had formed his own publishing company, Bad Press Ltd, which released the humor title Shit the Dog, written by Grant and drawn by Simon Bisley. In year 2020, in response to the pandemic, Alan Grant led a local community project in the village of Moniaive for producing a new comic about the virus and the residents’ community spirit.
