According to her management agency, Cal Wilson was battling a “short illness”. However, the exact details about her cause of death were not made public. The deceased comedian’s management further revealed that she was admitted to the hospital while she was in production of “The Great Australian Bake Off” show.

During an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald in July 2023 earlier this year, Wilson revealed how she first met her husband Chris at the Northcote bar in Melbourne way back in 2003. According to the popular comic, she was just getting over a “bad relationship” when she first met Chris. While she initially thought of Chris as a “great fling”, things got serious overtime and the pair eventually got married in an intimate ceremony in 2008. The couple has one son together named Digby who is currently 14 years old.

She was 53 years old and based in Australia at the time of her death. Despite being born in New Zealand, Cal moved to Melbourne in order to star in the popular sketch series Skithouse.

Cal Wilson was born to parents Graeme and Barbara Wilson. While her father worked as an engineer, her mother worked as a primary school teacher. Cal also had two brothers named Richard and Sean who work as civil engineers and physiotherapists respectively.

Cal Wilson attended Burnside High School following which she attended the Te Kura o Waimairi-iri, University of Canterbury.

Career and profession

Throughout her life, Cal Wilson was involved in a number of fields. She worked as a popular comedian and appeared in Spicks and Specks, Good News Week, Would I Lie To You. She also had her own Netflix show. She also wrote two children’s books titled George and the Great Brain Swappery, George and the Great Bum Stampede during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Aside from that, she also worked briefly as a radio host and hosted the national drive show. She also hosted the morning show with Nova back in 2007 and 2009 respectively. As a comedian, Cal Wilson was a regular at the Melbourne Comedy Festival. She performed at the festival for 14 times and eventually become a board member due to her popularity. Most recently, Cal co-hosted “The Great Australian Bake Off” season 7 alongside Natalie Tran.
