Cody Rhodes last stepped into the squared circle in June of 2022, when he faced Seth Rollins in a hell in a cell match. After surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle, however, he was told to stop wrestling permanently.
Officials from WWE have revealed that The American Nightmare is getting ready to return to the ring, since he was featured on a Royal Rumble poster recently. The poster for the upcoming Royal Rumble gives Cody’s supporters hope that they might get to see their favourite wrestler sooner than they expected.
Despite being a favourite for the men’s 2023 Royal Rumble Match, it appears that Cody Rhodes will not be making a surprise appearance.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Rhodes will not be making a surprise appearance in the Rumble. Instead his return will be built up through “multipart series.”

Even if Cody makes a full recovery, does he stand a chance against the Tribal Chief? Recently, Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff gave his thoughts on the matter in an interview with Chris Van Vliet. Eric made sure to mention Cody’s father Dusty, a three-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion in his own right.
“Well, it’s a wonderful story, isn’t it? I mean, second generation, I mean, who’s, there are maybe a few more beloved characters in professional wrestling than Dusty Rhodes. I can’t name one for me. But Dusty was so beloved and well respected.” quoted Bischoff.
Eric is convinced that if Cody defeats the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and creates the same fairytale as his father, the crowd will go completely nuts.

Cody Rhodes was born on June 30, 1985. He is an American actor and professional wrestler. He presently has a contract with WWE and performs for the Raw brand. Also well-known is Rhodes’s stint spent with All Elite Wrestling (AEW), where he held the positions of executive vice president and three-time AEW TNT Champion.
During his first stint with WWE, from 2006 to 2016, Rhodes gained notoriety both under his true name. And as the gimmick and ring name Stardust, a deep, dramatic, and glittering take on his half-Goldust brother’s character.
